Event Details

Economical Growth is traditionally linked with increasing demands of energy and growing amounts of waste. The use of fossil fuels and enlargement of landfills increases the climate change and have negative impact on the environment. For maintaining economical growth in a long term perspective the environmental impact must be recognized and reduced.

WORLD-CLASS REGIONAL WASTE MANAGEMENT
Sweden has been rather successful in a transformation towards a high degree of recycling and use of renewable energy sources. In the Gothenburg region there is a range of collection systems intended to utilise waste and recycle it into new material, used to generate electricity or heat or to produce vehicle fuel.

CHALLANGES CAN BECOME OPPORTUNITIES
India’s challenges in waste management can become opportunities with the right designs, models and technologies. An exchange of knowhow and experiences between Sweden and India in the field of Waste Management would benefit both in developing technological solutions for sustainability and a greener, longer lasting planet.

In this seminary, focusing on waste management system a panel of expertise from different sectors in the city of Gothenburg is invited as well as expertise from India. Together they will talk about and explore the possibilities and challenges of waste management in sustainable future cities.
