“It is often argued that India, with its wildly pluralistic society, fractious democratic political system, and boisterous independent media, has the potential to show the world’s other emerging markets that ethnic homogeneity and authoritarianism aren’t the only—or even the best—path to successful economic development.”
This is the vision proposed by McKinsey and Company in ‘Reimagining India’ a collection of essays debating the economical-political construct that is the Indian business environment. India is widely recognized as one of the two emerging Asian giants which no global company that has a long-term perspective can afford to ignore. The challenge is that the so called ‘democratic dividend’ of the huge young population should have the necessary skills and values. Sustainability and secure access to affordable energy are other challenges that India must address. Sweden shares many vital values with India such as democracy and respect for diversity and a commitment to protecting the environment. How can it be a partner in India’s journey to inclusive growth? What, if anything, would it stand to gain from such a partnership for progress with India?
This is followed by a lunch ’designed’ by Saransh Goila , India’s youngest celebrity chef who will share his vision of ‘Re-Imagining Indian Cuisine 2025′ and his favourite recipes.
