Event Details

The Digital India program was launched to complement the government’s flagship manufacturing thrust, Make in India. Digital India seeks to transform India into a connected economy. It is envisaged to be an effective tool not only to boost electronics manufacturing and to achieve economic goals but also to provide clean and efficient governance for reaching social goals.

The government of India has announced that it plans to create a US$15 billion domestic IOT market within next five years. This includes a 5–6% share of the total value of the global IOT industry. The IT spending of India’s local and federal governments reached US$6.8 billion in 2015—an increase of 5.7% from 2014. This includes spending on internal services, software, IT services, data centers, devices and telecom services. Additionally the public sector will be a key player in the evolution of the IOT.

As a leading innovator in the IT sector, Sweden has much to offer India—not just as a supplier but as a partner in co-developing technologies, processes and equipment. What conditions can facilitate such a partnership between India and Sweden and what results can we expect? Can Sweden and India create strategic partnerships to develop the high technology of the future? Prime minister Modi has set a new vision for a digital India—how can Sweden and India partner in realizing this?
